Wild Card Wines is a collaboration of Winemaker Louis van der Riet and Juan Koen. Together they identified a need for good quality driven Klein Karoo wines that challenges the general perception for wines from the Klein Karoo.
These vineyards are situated between the peaks of the majestic Outeniqua Mountains. Planted in rocky granite soils on four wire Perold trellis over 600m above sea level.
Tasting Notes :
Beautiful fresh green pepper, cut grass, fynbos opening up to passion fruit and guava fruit salad nose. Fresh tropical fruits and cut grass/green pepper palate with a mineral flint finish, well balanced acidity and a lingering finish.
The spirit base is crafted from the distillery’s handmade grain alcohol. The gin is macerated with the botanicals overnight and triple cold-distilled with botanical vapour infusions. Created using carefully selected ingredients: Juniper, Coriander, Sweet Orange Peel and Lion’s Tail sourced from Knysna with the Fulvic Trace Mineral added after distillation which does not impart a flavour to the gin but turns it jet black in the bottle. The mineral is plant based and 100% natural not created from dye or additives.
